Hello from Kelowna
Aug. 11th, 2007 08:36 amWe made it safe and sound to Kelowna yesterday evening then enjoyed some greek food and a walk along the Promenade/Boardwalk around the Okanagan Lake.
Some amusing things discovered yesterday.
1. There are a couple reststops just outside of Seattle that advertise being wireless hot spots. The mind boggles.
2. Canadian customs has a hard time with the idea that a woman in her late 20s with no children can be just a homemaker. (Really the lady at the border went like three or four questions about that with several huhs. It was very strange.)
3. There are these signs on Canada 1 and The Yellowhead highway (5) That read "Slippery When Frosty" my first thought was "Well dud." quickly followed by the mental image of Wendy's chocalate frozen dessert spilled across the highway making it slipper. (Yes my ind is a crazy place.)
4.Someone had a Shakespeare fettish when naming things along Canada 1. There were these signs by the roadside that were wooden ovals wuth train Pictures on them that sai, "Lear", "Othello", "Portia", "Iago", and "Falstaff". Didn't figure out what exatly they were but noticed the pattern right away.
That's it for now.
