My home county of Yamhill amuses me sometimes.

Today I got a jury summons from the county court requiring me to be at Juror orentation on April 2. Unfortunantely I will be in Canada (31 days left yeehaw!). Not only that I had jury duty from January to the end of March last year so I'm not eligible. (again I say Yeehaw!). I'm not sure if it is just a glitch or has something to do with the fact that my voting records have my maiden intial as well as my middle initial and my driver's record doesn't. (DMV didn't let me put two middle names on my driver's liscense when I went to change my name after I got married.)

Speaking of voting, Yamhill county has changed the way they print and count ballots so they are holding a mock election to teach both the voters and the staff about the new system. (Oregon has mail in ballots so we have already recieved them for this March 11 'election'.)How big a mock election you ask? Canidate range from Helen Keller and Albert Einstien for one position to Marilyn Monroe and Garth Brooks for another. (That was a vote for three and had write in options so I added Richard Dean Anderson and David Boreanaz to the list. I know I should have done Michael Shanks but I thought it best to stick with US citizens.) One of the issues was "Shall the United States purchase the territory of Louisiana from France?" Needless to say I was vastly Amused.

It was for Director of Entertainment actually. Hee. (Why Yamhill county would need such is worth pondering since it is kind of rural and is known as wine country in this state.)

Oh, that is amusing.... LOL (the ballot)

Is there any way you can contact them about this jury duty summons and let them know you served last year? I mean if it was just a year ago you shouldn't be eligible for 4 more years. At least that's how it works here in the state of New York. But I'd definitely follow up on that.

I feel for ya. I got a jury duty summons last August, not long after my accident. I had to get a note from my doctor telling them I still couldn't drive (it was for mid September), and they excused me.

Oh there is a form and one of the questions is have you served on a jury in the last two years. I checked yes so that should take care of it. (In Oregon you only get a two year reprieve.)

I wouldn't mind serving again but I'm going to be gone much of the term.

I'm wondering if the Louisiana issue passed.
