Fianlly a good day=)
May. 19th, 2007 05:08 pmBesides that two friends of our that we haven't seen in about a year came down to see the kiln and stayed the afternoon. We went and had lunch. (We shut the kiln down like we did over night and lost about 200degrees Celceius but have in the hour since we got back gained 100 back. This isn't a big deal because the pyrometric cones have fallen. In the past we were lucky to get cone 10 in the front and six in the back to fall and right now cone 12 in the front and 9 in back have fallen. We're just waiting for 10 in the back to fall then hold the temp for about an hour and then shut it down for good.) It was really good to see Ninian and Hrosweatha and they were really jazzed about the kiln.
It has so far been a good day.=)

Date: 2007-05-20 03:45 am (UTC)this is Hroswitha cleverly disguised as Arvanna (my other alias!) We had a great time and I have added you both to my friends list. We just found out Tiernan won Crown! It's been a good day. Most impressed with the kiln!

Date: 2007-05-20 09:19 am (UTC)Purometric cones are made out of material that melt a specific tempretures. They go from 010 down to 01 then 1 and up each melting at hotter temprtures. so cone 10 melts at about 2381F or just over 1200C (they can melt if a lower tempreture is held longer) Basically we were getting really nice heat (we even got white flame before it was shut down)=)

Date: 2007-05-20 09:26 am (UTC)Now I'm on a link trawl through wikipedia and finding out all kinds of random information. I wonder if I'll be able to get to Regency England via Kublai Khan again, or something equally random.
