My Weekend

I know this is a little late but I had a fabulous weekend and for once I remmebered the digital camera so y'all get pic spam.

First of all I got on site around 10:30 AM on thursday and couldn't do much as I had the canvas for the pavillon and no poles and everything that went in the pavillon. I waited about and hour for [livejournal.com profile] earcmacfithil to get there. (he had to stop and deliver some pottery on the way.) Then we put up the day shade that was our booth and went to lunch with the Mother-In-Law. (she lives in the town where the evnt was and I figured it would be rude to spend four days down there and not see her once.) Then we set up the booth and our camp.
This is the booth of pottery.

This is the banner of my arms and you can see our pavilion behind it.

We sold some stuff and lite the booth, after dark of course, with candles in my lumniaries. Then repeated the selling of stuff and lumniary thing on friday.

Saturday I got talked into doing field heraldry for two rounds of the defender tournement. (Field heraldry involves anouncing who is fighting whom in pairings then each individual bout and leading the competitors is the salutes and then anouncing the winner. It is not my favorite type of voice heraldry to do, but is better than Town Crying. I did have one anouncement to have to cry though.) After the tow rounds I helped figure out who was doing what for court. I got to be the King's court herald. (That means for his portion of the court I read the ceremonies and was the load voice calling up the people he wanted to talk to. This is my favorite type of voice heraldry. SQUEEEEEE!!!!!) The only problem was that it was over 90F and my toungue got a head of my brain several times but I managed to recover.

That would be me in the black veil and purple gown standing behind the guy with the crown on. The guy with the crown is His Majesty Amalric, Dred Soverign of An Tir.

After court it was dark enough to lite the candles and we sold some. There was also fire dancing both friday and saturday nights. We could see some from our booth and [livejournal.com profile] earcmacfithil took some pictures to share with you all.

the Fire dancers.

We sold some more pottery and packed up and came home. I stopped by [livejournal.com profile] jedibuttercup's to take pictures of her cat on my way home.

Fun, fun! Seems like your local kingdom has nice people and a court that's fun to play about in. I know down here there were a few kerfuffles because the local power structure was turning every event into a sort of rehash of the high school cafeteria - you know, who's in, who'd not. Lame.

Our kingdom is too big to get so cliqueish (we cover Oregon, Washington, the top part or Idaho, British Columbia, Alberta, Saseachwan, Yukon, and Northwest Territories.) We rarely have a king from our area (This one live in my shire even) The last king to be from Oregon was five years ago. So court can be fun. I admit to being a court junkie=).

You should see some of my other court garb. (It was too hot to wear much more than the thin cotton undergown and silk overgown.)

The SCA is an international non profit organization. There probably is a group near you. You can got to www.sca.org and find a group near you.=)

Looks like you had fun. :) The SCA have completely converted me down here. I'll be spending the weekend at our Coronation. We're all VERY glad the hurricane/tropical whatever will have blown through by then. Because, coronation in a hurricane, whew, not cool. LOL

Hope you have fun. Yes huricanes and Coronations are unmixy things. The SCA (like my being in fandom is [livejournal.com profile] jedibuttercup's fault) swollowed me whole about five and half years ago.
