There is just something about dusk/dawn pictures that I love. I actually included Pikes Peek in one of my Stargate stories. I hadn't really seen many pictures of it back then, but looking at this one, I think I got the description of it pretty accurate (although I had it seen at dusk in my story, but oh well, lol).
Yep, I love Dawn and Dusk pictures though I have more dusk and sunset pictures because I don't do that early in the morning often.
We were disappointed to not do more Stargate stuff in Colorado Springs but the views were amazing. I don't think I had even seen pictures of Pike's Peak before seeing the actual mountain.
I thought you pulled over at one point to take a photo on HWY50 of that sunset. Otherwise even if there had been one on your phone I would have taken it. It is one thing to take a photo on the scenic drive at those speeds it is another to take them at the speeds you drive on the highway. =)
Just did Keystone SD as well, another $140 ... figured those three would be the most vulnerable and expensive hotel nights in the USA part of the roadtrip, plus it gets about $450 of the hotel fees cleared off my credit card a month in advance.
When we get to Canada we will be stopping at Timmy's http://www.timhortons.com/ca/en/index.html for coffee, snacks, and some lunches. (Good coffee, donuts, and chilli I haven't tried the sandwiches but whatever I've had has been good).

Date: 2014-06-02 11:28 pm (UTC)Paid for Jackson and Cody today. Even going Motel 6 for Jackson, and one queen bed in Cody at the Super 8, it was $150 and $160 per night; eek.
