Anyone in town on April 17 and want to go to the Kane concert with me? I'll go by myself but would love some company.

Date: 2010-03-26 09:14 pm (UTC)Just over a month ago I posted a notice in the SCA live journal that I was looking for sister shires for my shire.
You mentioned that your shire is working on it and that you are the head of the baronial committee. I would love to talk about baronial advancements with you if you have the time for it.
Best regards,
Felicitas

Date: 2010-03-26 11:50 pm (UTC)I would find it very interesting to find out how you are organizing everything. Here in Sweden we have a very strong tradition for various societies to get a lot of work done at the annual meetings. So for us most of the "action" tend to be around them. :) It would be interesting to compare.
Also it is interesting to hear that your kingdom is demanding things from you. :) I think it's so long ago a barony was formed here in Drachenwald that most people seem uncertain how to go about it.
I found a barony that had their petition available online so I'm basing ours a lot on the way theirs was structured. Right now we are trying to assemble the history of Gotvik from old memories, anecdotes, newsletters, protocols and such like.

The hardest part is getting letters of support from our Peers. A couple who live in the zip codes aren't as active so they claim to have no opinion. Some of the more active Peers don't live in our zip codes. We are apart of the greater Portland, Oregon/ Vancouver, Washington metro area so there are already 2 baronies in the area and another nieghboring shire that exchange people who play in the branch they don't live in.

Date: 2010-03-27 10:32 am (UTC)We have only two relatively new members who are against this, unfortunately they've caused a lot of chaos mostly since they have jumped to conclusions and haven't communicated with us. But since 73% of our members support this and a lot of people out in Nordmark also support this they've seem to have reconciliated with the fact that shires evolve. ;)
I would love to have a copy of your petition. My email is the same as my username here bippimalin at gmail dot com.
One of our problems is that we don't have any peers, since so many of the old members moved once they finished their schooling and became inactive we sort of had to start over. One old member that became a Pelican is moving back right now, but has stated that he remains neutral.
