The Ballance of Judgement

earcmacfithil and I went to Fry's electronics to day to get him a new joystick so that next monday and tuesday he can spend the mornings playing Descent Freespace. (After the really big Portland Holiday Food and Gift show at the Convention Center this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, he's taking Monday and Tuesday off. We'll be mostly irresponsible, playing computer games, watching DVDs, taking the felines to the Vet's, and drinking.)

While at Fry's I thought I'd look at laptops as we were going to get a new one after the Show. Well they had one on sale and only one in the box left, so I have a new laptop, named "The Ballance of Judgement". (This is being typed on the old one, "Serenity", as I haven't even begun to transfer stuff yet.)

We name Mac computers after Castles and Windows machines after fictional spaceships. The desktop is named the Baliskner. Who are Lintilla and Fenchurch?

They are both characters from Hitchhiker's Guide.

Lintilla is the name of the female archaeologist clones on the planet of giant pigeons, the shoe event horizon, and the giant Arthur Dent statue.

Fenchurch is Arthur Dent's soulmate, who he meets in the 4th book, So Long and Thanks for All the Fish. She also turns out to be the girl from the cafe who has a great epiphany just before the Vogon Construction Fleet destroys the earth.

I'll probably post more after I actually take Gabriel out of the box. (The Ballance of Judgement is a Warship from the show Andromeda that had two robot avatars Gabriel, who was nice and sweet, and Remiel, who was evil and manical. So when the computer cooperates he is Gabe and when he miss behaves he's Remiel.)

My name is Sara so Hubby sometimes says "Sarah, beer me." The truck is named Thor.=)
