So [livejournal.com profile] earcmacfithil and I finally made an apperance at Friday Night Revels. Not many people there but ir was good to finally go again. On the way home I decided I want some ice cream to celebrate the mailing of my application so we stopped at Safeway. This was around 10pm. I was wearing this oufit:

looking at the ice cream when this guy who works at the Safeway did the most chivalrous and courtly bow and said, "My queen". Now I've been called a princess, have been asked if I'm in a play, or told I looked raidiant when stopping in grocery stores in garb but this was the first I've been bowed to.

It is one of the fun things about my hobby. (At events I even get my hand kissed on occasion as the man bows over it and says, "My Lady". It was just a little odd in the groocery store.)

Thank you kindly. I made the dress so if you really want one . . . . .

Nice to know chivalry hasn't totally died out!

Really?!?

Chivalry is not dead in the SCA. It is one of the founding pricipals of the group.

Really. We'd have to discuss payment for fabric and stuff (like shipping) but if you really wanted one for an occaision it could be worked out. (With about 8 yards of one fabric and 2 and a half of a second for sleeve lining for just the overgown and seven of either a cotton or linen for the undergown it is not an outfit for just everyday unless you're me and go to a bunch of these kind of events. I even camp in them but then again that justifies the expense since I wear the alot.)

Now if you knew how to sew I could tell you how I did it and you could make your own.=)

Hmm... I can't sew, but I do have a friend who's a clothes designer/maker so if you had a pattern...

The bodice was a pattern and the sleeves another but then I just made a really full skirt and sewed it to the bottom of the bodice. I'll go up stairs (where all my sewing stuff is) and get the Mc Call's pattern numbers for you later tonight.=)

I think i might have. I have five over gowns of the same pattern and three undergowns so you might have seen some other combinations too.
Thanks. I love the out fit too. Once you get used to that much sleeves it's pretty comfortable.=)
