So how many of you have any expierance at San Diego Comic Con? Nate and I are contemplating ogin as an early anniversary celebration. (Our Fifteenth wedding anniversary is a month latter and we can't go anywhere because we have events we have to on the weekend on either side of the date so in order to do any kind of long trip we have to do it some other time and what better than Comic Con.) So if you've been what advice would you give people going for the first time.

I went back in 2005 and I want to go this yar SO BAD! I mean it's geek heaven! So many different things to see. So many different movies and tv and manga and anime and exhibits and on and on. :) I mean you jut need to check the webiste as they're updatng because I can't do it justice for all they offer. My big thing for this year though is I am retty darn sure there will be a Hobbit panel with the cast and I wantses to see it. Yes precious I do. :)

Ok advice - hunt around for the best hotel deals. When I went I with with 3 other girls and myself plus my friends Patty and Kathy drove there. From Portland, OR to San Diego we made it in less than 24 hours. We took brief breaks to rest but mostly drove straight through. Anyway, CC has deals with a few hotels close by so scope for them. Second decide which panels you really want to see. My friends and I did the 4 day pass with preview night but it was way cheaper to get that pass back then. Now that pass alone is like $150 I think. So it may be better to go for the weekend an just buy like passes for Saturday and Sunday. They're just starting to list things so maybe wait and see what days have the things you want and go from there. Food isn't cheap, try to not eat at Comic Con. Water was like 4 bucks if memory serves so God knows what it costs now. But there are a few places close by. Or if you rent a car there are places you can drive to for cheaper fare. Also if your hotel has a fridge, get stuff and put it in there. At least for at night when you head back and crash. That way you're only spening money during the day for nibles and things.

Bring a camera and put money and cards in your (bad as it may sound) bra. You don't want things floating around. You watch Leverage. Peopl nab stuff galore at these events. I didn't have a problem but then again I know large crowds plus money to burn equals - happy Parker paradise. :)

That's all for now. I hope you can go. What a great anniversary gift :) Then you must come back and share details.

I've gone a bunch, and hope to go this year. :)

--Cost cutting on hotels is good, and SD has a nice trolley system and buses, but if you don't like to walk or carry everything you need with you all day every day, also consider distance from the convention center.

--Carry food and water with you. Convention food is crappy and overpriced. There are a lot of great restaurants in the Gaslamp district just outside the convention center, but it's much easier to bring in lunch and breakfast food, not to mention water or snacks.

--This con has gotten terribly crowded. Be prepared for long lines, and to not get into all the panels you stand in line for. Plan ahead for what you want most.

--Avoid all events in Hall H, if you can.

--Have fun! :) It really is geek heaven.
