I must confess my love for the musical Newsies has not faded in the last decade and a half.

Why do I not own this on DVD? I have most other Christian Bale movies but somehow this hasn't come home with me yet. (That will be fixed before the end of the Summer.) Right now I have the DVD from Netflix in my laptop.

Anyway I want to know if any of the rest of you share my love for the musical of hot teenage boys singing and dancing.

Would it be a crime to say I've never seen it?

:) Well, I'll add that to the list of movies I'm told I have to watch. I'm sure it will be more enjoyable then some of the others. Because I do like musicals.

Christian Bale...the guy who played Will Scarlet in Robin Hood: Prince of Theives?

No that is Christian Slater. Christian Bale is the new Batman.

Ah. Good thing I asked. I would have been confused when I finally saw it.

Hee hee.

I did actually sing "Stanta Fe" for a vocal recital my senior year in High School. This started a long obsession with Christian Bale.=)

I love musical!
(never heard of that one though...)
I've seen a few, but wish I could see more.
The only musical I've got on dvd is Cats, and some Dutch/ belgium productions for kids.

It is a Disney Live Action Musical done in 1991. Staring a 16 year old Christian Bale who hadn't originally signed up for a musical, but has a darn fine singing voice and is a great dancer. This is long before the days of American Psycho and Batman.

The story is about a bunch of boys who had been selling newspapers on the streets of New York in 1899 going on strike. Hubby has issues with the ragged band of street kids suddenly singing in unison and doing choregraphed dances but I find it fun. Theere only three females of any significance in the whole movie.=)
